One Night Stand - Bryan Ferry - Avonmore (CD, Album)

Bryan Ferry, much as I admire him, is a die-hard creature of habit, releasing album after album of trite and polite "chanteur" pieces. -post Roxy Music and even then towards the "Avalon" finale. The usual participants are here yet again, without having to mention them. The same oh so funky bass lines we've heard since the 80's and the same restrained guitar riffs that total up to some kind of milk toast AOR .

 · On the album art of Avonmore, the record he released when he was a year shy of 70, Bryan Ferry showcases himself as a dashing young man -- a portrait of an artist not as a glam trailblazer or distinguished elder statesman, but rather caught in an indeterminate time between the gorgeous heartbreak of Roxy Music's Avalon and the meticulous solo work that came immediately in its wake/10().

Avonmore (album) Avonmore. (album) Studio One (Olympia, London, UK); 4th Street Recording (Santa Monica, California): Saltlands Studio (Brooklyn, New York). Avonmore is the fifteenth studio album by English singer Bryan Ferry, released in the United Kingdom on 17 November

 · Everything about "Avonmore" is shrewdly designed to be an archetypal Ferry album. The song "Midnight Train" comes from the unreleased (officially) "Horoscope" sessions. There are the obligatorily bad covers ("Send in the Clowns" & "Johnny and Mary"). There's the classy/sleazy "One Night Stand"/5().
