Matt Cox – 6
The goalkeeper would’ve been disappointed with his first half with some dodgy passes and clearances but had a solid second. Clearly comfortable with his feet and reads the game well. Will only improve and needs games. Be patient with him.
Luca Hoole – 6
One of a couple who can hold his head up high. Made some solid interceptions and blocks. Would personally like to see him get forward more.
Tristan Crama – 7
The Frenchman should be pleased with his debut for the Gas. Denied what looked to be a certain goal with a header and made some vital blocks and interceptions. Looked comfortable on the ball too.
Connor Taylor – 5
The defender made some decent clearances at times but will probably be disappointed with his first start back in a Rovers shirt. Arguably could’ve done better for Ipswich’s goal with Jack Taylor unmarked.
Lewis Gordon – 5
A few moments he won’t want to look back on but showed his best trait and that’s his reading of the game. Got his foot in at the right time on a handful of occasions.
Grant Ward – 5
Like most of his teammates, he won’t want to watch his first half back with some wayward passes all evening but the midfielder tried to get Rovers going in the second as well as making one or two good interceptions.
Sam Finley – 5
The midfielder produced an excellent flick in the first-half and had some decent touches but there were one or two occasions where he lost the ball in a really dangerous area. Not the only player to do that, mind.
Luke Thomas – 7
Easily the Rovers player who looked the most threatening in the final third. Was the architect of most of the Gas’ promising moves as well as dropping back when needed to try and provide an extra body.
Scott Sinclair – 4
The winger made one good run down the left flank and struggled to make an impact as Rovers were under the cosh for most of the first half. Didn’t make the second as John Marquis came on.
Aaron Collins – 5
The forward looked more threatening when put out on the left in the second half but struggled to get the ball out of his feet for a menacing effort all evening.
Jevani Brown – 6
After a disappointing first half, the forward looked to make things happen in the final third for Rovers in the second. Unlucky in some instances and should’ve definitely had an assist.
Substitutes:
John Marquis – 6
Rovers were much better after the striker came on. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Didn’t get a chance on goal but tried to make things happen.
James Connolly – 4
Helped out defensively when he came on but will be kicking himself with the chance to score, even though he’s not a forward.
Luke McCormick – 4
Looked energetic when he came on, obviously keen to make an impression after being injured. Just didn’t have enough time to make an impact.
Josh Grant – 4
Tried to help out where he could but Rovers were 2-0 down when he came on with the game practically done.
